The Atlantic slave trade grew at a time when many African tribes were at war with each other. African kings wanted guns to fight neighbouring tribes and rounded up captives of warring tribes. They kept them in cages on the beaches, to be sold to the European traders for guns & liquor. No one was running into Africa to get them. The traders stayed on the shore line. You should Google it.

"It's the gun which was a deciding factor in the slave trade. African kings rounded up captives of warring tribes. They had them in cages, waiting on the beaches. No one was running into Africa to get them.

Once in seventy years is not a waste of waste money. How many US President inaugurations do the USA fund.

@Traytriunetheomnist Coronation or not it wouldn’t have made a bit of difference, the British people would still be in the same position. Our government couldn’t care less about the Indigenous British people. They only care about migrants and giving them Billions in hand outs.

African kings rounded up prisoners of warring tribes. They had them in holding castles , on the beaches, waiting for the ships. No one was running into Africa to get them. European slave traders did not participate in the raids because life expectancy for Europeans in sub-Saharan Africa was less than one month during the period of the slave trade (which was prior to the widespread availability of quinine as a treatment for malaria).

@juliewake4585 You are wrong. African rivers were too shallow for European ships, African interior was inhospitable for Europeans. The traders stayed on the shore line. You should Google it.

More than a million Christians were enslaved by Muslims in North Africa between 1530 and 1780. Arab slave traders between 1600 and 1800 century, enslaved 1.4 million Christians. Should they not pay reparations for their historical brutality.

The anti-monarchist protesters had rape alarms to frighten & startle the horses, so they would bolt into the crowd, cause mayhem & kill people. It was good that they were arrested. Why protest on the day? It wasn’t going to stop the coronation, just get people injured & killed.

@gf5404 The British were the first to abolish slavery… There were very few slaves in Britain. The British didn’t use slaves in their houses in Britain.
1
@DeKKH Leave Britain, then you won’t have a Monarchy.

@gc3847 People from abroad are entitled to comment and enjoy the spectacular Coronation event. You can always leave Britain if you don’t like the monarchy.

@ Blessed One- Google…the BBC History Website, “My Great, Great, Great, Nigerian Grandfather was a Nigerian Slave trader and sold Africans to the white slave traders” African tribes were always at war with each other, they took captives of war and sold them to European traders in exchange for guns & liquor. African kings rounded up prisoners of warring tribes. They put them in holding castles , on the beaches, to wait for the ships. No one was running into Africa to get them. European slave traders did not participate in the raids and stayed on the shore line because life expectancy for Europeans in sub-Saharan African conditions was less than one month due to disease and malaria, there was no quinine during the slave period.

@Serenitykarter The Arab Muslim Slave Trade of East Africa about 18 million Africans were enslaved by Arab Muslim slave traders and transported over the Sahara..between 650 and 1900. Slavery should not be relegated to only the European slave trade. The truth about slavery includes the long, extensive and deadly role played by Arab Muslim slavers. Sorry to disappoint you, especially when you only want to blame the British. Who were the first to abolish slavery.
1
@Serenitykarter Who owns Democracy now ?

The Royals are part of out National heritage, they are representatives of the indigenous British people not the foreigners with a British passport. 👍🏻
