  1. It's like cognac. Only Brandy from the cognac region of France can be labeled as cognac. It let's you know where it's from. Like bourbon. Only whiskey made with a certain mix of corn mash and from Kentucky can only be called bourbon. Like Pinot Noir wine. Only wine from Oregon made with certain grapes can be labeled pinot noir. It's called product integrity. Cheeses have the same rules from Europe as cognac/champagne. Many things have that. It's for product integrity.
