This is exactly what I was wondering about! May I ask how old you are? I'm asking because I'm 51 and want to know if it would be good for me to try. Getting up and down from the floor seems to me like a great way to strengthen my core and knees. Was hoping that floor sleeping may also help properly align my aging spine.

This is such an informative video, very helpful! A few of these things are unacceptable in the US as well (but people do them anyway). Such as sitting on the street or steps, not cleaning up and heavy odors. I'm guilty of poor punctuality.😅Thank you for the Japanese lesson as well!

Thank you so much Nao! I love to hear about seasonal living in Japan and the different housing styles. I hope you and your family are well. Merry Christmas!

Because I'm American I don't like slimy or stinky (except for cheese). So no natto for me! 😅 I love fishy and many kinds of seaweed. Almost all Japanese food I've tried is delicious. I've never had shio-kara but would love to try it. Umeboshi is impossible to find and try -- at least it can't be found in a small amount in the States. There are giant, expensive jars online but nothing sample sized. White bait looks delicious! I often ate wasabi peas snack with tiny dried shrimps but I can't find it anymore. Is that a Japanese snack or is that an American take on Japanese food? In my area, most Japanese food and products must be special ordered and cooked at home. Thanks again for your hard work Nao! I'd love to see another Japanese ingredient video.

Thanks again for such a helpful video, Nao. I really enjoy these. As someone with little family or history, the concept of ancestor worship has always interested me. I've always wanted to feel part of a close family with deep roots. One question I have: If an ancestor was known for doing bad things, what is done about it within the family? Is that person still included? If so, how does it work?

I've never heard the rumor about Japanese eating whale! The difference between losing your wallet in Japan and losing it in America is that here, there's a chance someone will mug you for it (beat you and take it from you). Not everywhere of course -- but I think that's what people are comparing it to. The one that surprised me was Japanese breakfast! Would you please do a video on bread breakfast if you get the time? If not, no pressure. I'm glad for everything you share here. Once again, thank you so much for your hard work.

Wow I would love to stay in a ryokan! But maybe not in Tokyo. Thank you so much for showing us the inside perspective. Also, sorry for leaving so many comments today but I've been binge-watching and I feel it's rude not to leave a comment.

Such good knife skills Nao! I'm going to be honest: before this video, there was no way I would try this. I absolutely hate ketchup because of its sweet and sour flavor. It's so far away from being a tomato.😆However you said you cook the sour out of it; that might change everything for me. Now, I'm going to try it. But after Christmas because there's too much food everywhere right now. I've eaten too much already.🤢Thank you for this great cooking lesson! I would really love to see more of these videos too as the only Japanese food I'm able to try is the food I cook myself. Authentic instruction is always appreciated.
