For many years I didn't believe it even existed... it came as a bit of a shock when I found out it was real.... because, at the time, the only people I heard mention it were conspiracy nuts not science geeks. And my instant thought on hearing a conspiracy theory is to assume 100% fantasy.

As someone who likes to play around with electronic "music"... this sound a hell of a lot like acoustic feedback.

And short sighted old gits(like me) watching on a phone.

My ex brother in law, who was a massive jazz freak, had a live Louis Armstrong recording where someone shouts "Hey Louis!" mispronounced like "Hey Lewis!".... whenever you play that pirate's message to you, I think of this.

@nillchen if you've got a slowly modulated device in the signal path (I've done it with e.g. cheap guitar stomp boxes) you can achieve this effect without needing to move the mic.

@nillchen a voltage controlled amplifier modulated by a very low frequency oscillator would do the trick quite nicely.

A turd in the hand is worth two in the Bush.

I like the way that the one that's near Duga uses the same "cage dipoles" that Duga uses... because they had a bunch of them handy??????

"Shift co-ordinate point"... very subtle and obscure William S. Burroughs reference.

I turned it off in my mobile phone options long before the UK government test. The intersection of things I care about and things the UK government care about approaches zero as a limit. ;) "Death Tower" made me genuinely laugh out loud... Would love to see more footage of those radio masts that look like trees or are trees or have trees growing in them or next to them - whatever it was.

Years ago, I did an arty-farty YouTube video of "a ghost" and I got loads of comments informing me that my video was fake...

Should have ended it with "no.... don't be so bloody silly".

Washing machine???? Sounds like a poor quality Throbbing Gristle bootleg to me. ;)

"Was it you?" (laughs)

Yeah, in Western terminology, before the fall, The Soviet Union was one and the same as Russia. And even though that was both wrong and a massive oversimplification... there are times to be correct and times to be historically acurate.... and you can't have both.

I think it's funny that they had their "crime prevention officers" to come round our houses and point out our appallingly bad home security. Yet, at the same time, they were desperately in need of a visit from the equivalent of a CPO regarding electronic/communications security.

Well, the existence of the Today programme does need some kind of explanation.
