It's "strange" that your Bass looks exactly like a guitar! ;) But, piss taking aside, that's actually pretty cool... Utterly dreadful, but cool! :)

You didn't teach me anything today... but I love this story and enjoy every retelling I hear... Also fabulous to see David demonstrating his creations... Big fan of his channel too.

Leaving neatly packaged samples "all over" Mars waiting for a sample return mission is an interesting plan to try and convince ignorant politicians to give them the budget to DO that sample return mission. But with ignorance amongst politicians becoming more and more fashionable it's going to be "interesting" trying to get that budget.

That question is asked and answered somewhere... where was it now... oh yeah... in this video.

Someone complains about politics and then uses a blatantly political phrase like "leftist agenda", doesn't anybody else smell a "pre-concieved notion" or two here?
3
@niko-ni6ps Yeah... especially when it's over-verbose self promotion.

We could go to Mars, but idiots left behind on all Earth will always be making dumb-ass claims jut to try and gain attention.
2
Wow Derek.... you successfully trolled the entire YouTube electrical engineering community.
2
Erm.... the mark IS feedback.
2
Sorry... when you said "which is why we've got governments to act in our best interest", I laughed so much I peed a little bit. Which is kinda sad.

This is one of your best videos ever! Absolutely brilliant! Keep up The Great Work!

I recognised bionerd23 just from her hand and her Gamma Scout. ;) And whilst we're noticing people was Brady Hanran with you down the mine?
1
"Nice contrasty bolt text is easier to read" .... please FOR THE LOVE OF GOD tell that to the web design industry!
1
"Modestly catastrophic" :D :D :D
1
Ace sound effect on time-symmetry there.
1
Sssssssh! Don't say "alien civilisations" too loud on YouTube... there are far too many annoying conspiracy theorists hanging around here to mention things like that.
1
Years ago, I was reading to documentation for a ray-tracer and it said "sorry, at this point we don't support caustics" and I thought "I wonder what that is?" Here we are, about 30 years later, and now I finally know.
1
Where do you get your pronunciation of "Dzhanibekov" from. I've always said "D'zan--ee--beak--ov". And, y'know, bearing Western pronunciation of Russian names we could either or both be wrong.... but, if you've had someone who knows tell you the pronunciation, it's time for me to change. I've always been a big fan of Dzhanibekov, ace Soyuz pilot, excellent painter and all round laid back kinda guy.
1
You raise some huge questions here. I do a lot of "not intrrested" ehich seems to negate my need to ring anyone's bell.... I see all of your videos by continually clicking "not interestex" a million times a day.
1
"Moon" and "Planet" is a tough one. Y'know, let's say Ganymede Vs Mercury! Disappointed that no-one, when asked "How many stars in a galaxy?" or "How many galaxies in the universe?" came out with a Carl Sagan impersonation to say "Billions and Billions". Just show how old I've got.
1
.... and on today's episode of "Derek tries to fry Destin's brain".....
1
I've been looking for the video where you dress up as a Chinese lantern for ages. But WHERE did you get your Martyn Poliakov T-Shirt from?????

It's a pity that magnetic tape isn't in use much for recording sound any more, because there... is the best metaphor to explain telomere. Telomeres are the leader tape on the end of you DNA (and we need to go open-reel here, 'cus cassettes don't make it to metaphor stage 2) Over time it gets all wrinkly and crumpled up and flakes away until there's none left and you start chewing up the ends of the tape. Honestly go ask an obsolete-sound-media nerd (there's loads of them around) and you'll see the telomeres.

I saw her on the cover a a ma...gazine Now she's a big success, I want to meet her again. .... Sorry, just went off on a tangent.
1
Show it once and mention that you did do the repetition without showing it in full detail????
1
"You! ... are a fu.............." Ace!

I still wonder though... Is quantum computing computer science's answer to nuclear fusion... Is it going to be "that thing we need loads of money to work on but it's not quite ready yet, we'll have it sorted in 10-20 years time"... forever??? Just askin'

23:39 is that Grace Hopped?

I'd be so tempted to get in touch with a bio-hacker and say "get me genetically engineered ".

Science on YouTube has got so great. The Thought Emporium [ https://www.youtube.com/user/TheChemlife ] commented on an Applied Science [ https://www.youtube.com/user/bkraz333 ] video suggesting that he try a technique that I've never heard of before and, within a couple of seconds, here is a Veritasium [ https://www.youtube.com/user/1veritasium ] video explaining it to me. Considering that in many ways this is an awful time to be living through... It's also a truly fantastic time to be living in.
1
Clickbaityest title ever!!!! ;)
1
But if gravity is an illusion, what was it that they detected from those colliding pulsars with that thar very long baseline interferometer?
1
Looking at the title, I was expecting a "rare" substance that would be hard to make... Just water and propolene glycol... Supurb!
1
Seeing this sequence... I have profound garage-envy!!! :)
1
If someone ever detected one, the answer would be yes. Until someone detects one, the answer is "?????". Or until scientific theory says "oh, we don't need those anymore", then the answer is "probably not".
1
Dubai isn't in India...

I don't understand NASA's obsession with finding life on Mars. For one, finding it would be awful news ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UjtOGPJ0URM ) But more than that, there's so many "better" things to do on Mars...y'know... like... preparing for colonisation.
1
Our governments have been and always will be a subtle blend of criminals and incompetents.
1
I love a nice bit of materials science.
1
Venus is better than Mars... it's quicker to get there, has better radiation shielding, better gravity AND we'd get to live in the sky! And we wouldn't have wowzers telling us we can't go 'cus we'll harm the primitive life forms (that aren't there anyway).
1
I LOVE the smell of ozone.... "apparently" is a bit toxic but so are most of the other smells I love.
1
Feel free to ignore me, I'm just making s--t up at this point. But the objects have intertial mass, so it takes spacetime more effort to accelerate them in time so they warp spacetime by providing inertial resistance?????
1
@MrJinx1710 does the "Hick's Boson" play the banjo???
1
I swear some people come to the comments section on science videos just to get stoned and make some s--t up.
1
First time, I've seen a picture of Mars-3... fit's the Soviet "why re-invent the wheel" pattern that I've come to love: "Lunik works pretty well on the moon, so let's just stick a bigger upper stage on it and call it a Mars probe".
1
Everlasting lightbulb? ... well, no! Get you over to Big Clive and he'll explain how over-driving the LEDs in lightbulbs maintains their planned obsolescence.
1
YouTube doesn't make teachers obsolete, 'cus YOU are the teachers!

Kurzgesagt say "close your eyes for a second, now open them again... that is what 'forever' feels like".
