  2. Fortran's from the 1957 but didn't really come to much until the 1960s... saying it's from the 40s and 50s is pushing it a bit.... Assembly language is harder to pin down but, again, saying the 1940s is still going too far.

  3. What got me into spaceflight was having a good-quality sci-fi series on the TV (Gerry Anderson's UFO) which was set at least partially on the moon and having real astronauts going there for real at the same time.
