  2. Actually psychopaths have a very fine tuned calculus of advantage and disadvantage, gain and loss, and seek personal gain without regard to the needs of others. However, they are very sensitive to any risk, negative consequence or loss to themselves and so will calculate the potential damage of your standing up to them. You have to be capable of hurting them and they have to know you can and will. Then they respect you, not morally and ethically, but through fear.
