  1. The tone is super important. The question should be reasonable, and not convey serious doubts, unless it is deserved. Of course it is fair to ask reasonable questions. The tone, and openness to a fair answer, is everything.

  2. Thus te implication and reality is that the expectation of society and women that men approach first puts men in a weaker position. This is what women want and your point makes your post-hoc justification clear. Keep it up, and men will not bother approaching because the power relationship becomes skewed, by your own admission.
