Not at all. This is a rejection of greed and materialism, opening the path to inner work and freeing oneself from slavery to Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. Think of Eastern spirituality. Of course not all will be able to make the transition.

@brianschmidt704 Wrong. We are made in the image of the Divine and that includes our souls. All the wisdom traditions of all the ages, including Christianity, insist that looking inwards is essential. How else are we to repent and improve if not by looking inwards? What is prayer and contemplation if not a soul-searching? Why did Christ spend days in the wilderness? You are not a saint, but you could and should be.

@brianschmidt704 So, no point in repentance, contemplation, prayer, ethics, love, compassion and dedicating yourself to a better life. And according to your logic, being born again does not require any inner work. You need do nothing to prepare yourself to be fit for divine grace. You do not need to train in loving your neighbour as yourself. You do not need to train in following the Master. You will be saved whatever you do. Fortunately, thousands of years of Christian tradition disagrees with your uninformed view, and the world is a better place for it.
