This is why acting like these podcast bros, no matter how fun Rogan was when he was being silly/goofy, aren’t harmful is dangerous. They are, and using them to mock or for content is dangerous because it elevates them regardless of intent. Rogan has always been dangerous.

@Luminousreign Disinformation isn’t…dangerous? Really? That’s what you’re going with? Platforming, mocking and using for content, people who are willing to lie and take advantage of misinformation/disinformation and to actively spread it, enhances their audience.

When I was working at Home Depot during my undergrad as an ecologist, every week one or two of the guys who come and almost see it as a challenge to bring up these Rogan type points against me and try and “prove” me wrong.

@Luminousreign histrionics? You’re not even making any rational points, just trying to say “no ur wrong” to my “disinformation and not taking those that spread it, seriously is dangerous”. A very common and easy position to hold.

@BOGOworms4sale exactly! The best scientists constantly admit what they don’t know, that does mean everything they do know is invalidated. Like that analogy of two scientists debating about climate change and some passerby witnesses it and goes “scientists disagree on climate change!!!” When both of the scientists agree that climate change is real, just some other nuanced areas of it they’re discussing.

@BOGOworms4sale it’s almost like they see someone who’s an expert in their respective field, as a challenge to get an “own” or prove them wrong. When a fundamental aspect of science is being willing to be incorrect just after rigorous experimentation and proof
