  1. You mean uncontrolled gun ownership (gun ownership is allowed in the UK, but it's controlled). Uncontrolled gun ownership is a really bad idea, as you can see in America when there is ample evidence that it is not safe to allow members of the general public own a gun. Some control is necessary, and it's not defending criminals, but protecting everyone in society.
