War in Ukraine has raised prices, and the national grids needs money to adapt to the changes required by climate change, and to increase resillience in uncertain times, but fundamentally Ofgem is mismanaging the energy market. There should have been greater reductions in price due to the switch to more sustainable forms of energy, as the 'fuel' is essentially free, but the windfall has gone to the shareholders (much like in the water sector).

  2. I think there should be some state support for those people with children. We need to ensure that children are cared for, educated and encouraged to meet their potential and take their place as citizens. Providing the number of children is not excessive, then I think some state support is desirable and necessary.

  3. That is a great pity. I live with a teacher, my stepdaughter, and I see the effort she puts into teaching, caring for, and nurturing the children at her secondary school.

  4. I doubt the Conservatives will move back to the centre; not while populism seems to pay dividends at the ballot box. I think we have two options: apply pressure on Labour to implement better (more equitable/left-leaning) policies than they currently seem inclined towards, or start a new party with a proper social agenda and the economic rigour to deliver this within the UK economy. This party might well be on the left of Labour on some issues and to the right of Labour on others.
