  3.  @Globaldave1970  Long disputed territory of Crimea? But Russia agreed in 1994 to respect and even protect the borders of Ukraine as they existed in 1994. Russia wants the oil, gas, minerals and industrial capacity in Ukraine, and it wants to expand, to recover its lost glories.

  5. Putin will test this out. Putin is clever. He has been testing Europe with his attacks on undersea cables, and will find other subtle ways to threaten the territory of NATO members, e.g. by invading Norway's northern border. A small incursion, just to see what NATO does if Norway fires shots at the Russians to force them to leave.

  8. There isn't any real disquiet about where the aid provided to Ukraine has gone. Even Trump hasn't suggested an investigation (yet). The money has been spent fighting the Russians. In many cases, the 'money' wasn't money at all but military hardware that has been thrown into the fighting. Any investigation would find that most of any cash sent to Ukraine was spent buying drones, food and body armour for the army.

  11. I think Starmer is just rying to offer a crumb of comfort to Zelenskyy, but it can only be a crumb, as the US has the power to make a real difference. Europe might not be able to give enough to really help Ukraine, but it will try, and it is very resourceful.
