I agree that local councils could easily check whether someone is in receipt of Universal Credit, Employment and Support Allowance and Pension Credit - they have access to the data from the DWP to check Council Tax and Housing Benefit Claims. They could then automatically reduce their council tax. It would save a lot of money processing manual claims for Council Tax Support.
