The MET statement at the end of this video is, dare I say it, a cop out. Just doing the bare minimum isn't good policing, it is mediocre policing and by not acknowledging it as such, the MET confirm that they are self-serving, not public-serving.

The UK, as a result of its North Sea oil and gas projects and the Offshore Windfarms, has a depth of experience with marine engineering that is second to none. The corrosion problems can't be overcome indefinitely, but they can certainly be overcome economically. The missing link, as well as grid upgrades, is storage. Tidal power is predicatble, but intermittent and might arrive when demand is low, so cracking the storage conundrum is key.

Using renewable energy to create fuels makes a lot of sense, as the optimal fuels are stable, easy to store and burn and and easily transported with existing technologies such as pipelines.

I have a feeling that this will not happen in the case of Russia. It will take Europe a long time to trust any Russian leader, especially one that keeps changing the rules so that they remain in power.
2
The point of the war is to subjugate Ukraine and make it a vassal state of Russia. Putin wants to rebuild the Soviet Union so he can be a Soviet hero. (Putin said it was to rescue Ukraine from Nazis, but seeing as there are only about 1,000 Nazis in Ukraine, and none in any positions of power, the Ukranians didn't want any help from Russia.)

I expect they will cancel Nordstream. Russia and Russians have shown that they cannot be trusted. It will be a hundred years before anyone in the world believes anything a Russian says.

@kennedykaram516 The Ukranians are making them beg.

I would go so far as to say it the most important book written about life in the UK in the 21st century. It should be a set book in English and Welsh schools.
2
Russia will pay for the rebuilding. The Peace talks between Ukraine and Russian are likely to agree this.

They can hear the turbines and so avoid them.

Salter's Ducks collected energy from the waves, which are principally driven by wind, but they were inefficeint compared to wind turnbines.

@Puzzoozoo The Azoz brigade should have been shut down by the Ukranian government, but the government only came into power in 2019, so it's not surprising that they hadn't managed to do that yet. The current Ukranian government was in dialog with Putin, but Putin did not wait or support the new government, he invaded, presumably hoping that they would not be able to mount an effective resistance, or that the military would not yet be loyal to them. This was a fatal mistake.

Putin has messed around with Russia for the last time. He will not survive this catastrophe for Russia.
1
If he brokers a peace deal with Putin, he may well get a Peace Prize. I hope that he can broker a deal that means no more Russians or Ukranians lose their lives, but which also sees Russia pay for the damage and destruction they have caused.

Anyone looking at a modern wind turbine would conclude that they are enromous contraptions that are expensive to build and maintain. If the economic case can be made to build and maintaining a wind turnbine at sea, I don't see why it couldn't be made for this form of sub-surface turbine. There is not a lot of difference between them.

@lucicerlanfe3897 Being a member of NATO does not mean having weapons of mass destruction on Russia's door step. Your reply is pure Russian paranoia. NATO can NEVER be an aggressor. The Treaty doesn't allow it.
1
@Anonymous-il9pb The North Atlantic Treaty does not guarantee that NATO would not move closer to Russia. It is not a treaty with Russia! The Treaty DOES ensure that NATO can never be an aggressor. NATO and the West means Russia no harm. We were quite happy to trade with you, but when you invade a sovereign state, you have to expect consequences. Putin has destroyed any chance of progress in Russia for the next 100 years, possibly longer.

They are being converted to Electric Arc. The UK Government should be looking accelerate this in exchange for a stake in the company.
1
Putin doesn't want NATO to fight, he wants to keep Ukraine without any military aid. He is looking to close down any corridors by which weapons can reach Ukraine, but he knows he can't fire on NATO planes if they are outside of Ukraine. The one thing that would bring NATO into the war is to allow any nuclear power plant, including Chernobyl to start leaking radiation. He can use chemical weapons and thermobaric weapons with impunity. NATO will not defend Ukraine, but it will defend Europe for nuclear pollution.

The disappointing thing is that we have the technology to do everything we need to do, but government aren't driving us to change our habits.
1
Russia felt threatened by a neighbour that did not want to be controlled by them in the way they control Belarus. Russia felt threatened before any weapons were sent.
1
Putin represents Putin, nothing else.

Yes, the possibility of polluting the Earth is endless! Until there is no one left to consume the oil and gas.
