The council had a clear conflict of interest in acting for the lady. I would be interested to know if there is any such law that should have preventing them from acting for her. IMHO They should have sought our an independent advocate for her, but I don't know if they were required to do so by law. The conviction should be recinded, but I wonder who will fight for this for this person?
