  2.  @tomfrazier1103  I'm married into a Chinese family, and have been to China. There is a really strong sense of, being victims of the west, Japanese, mongols, (but not Mao), promoted by the government. Most of their hardship, was self inflicted. But, they don't see it that way. Causes a huge insecurity, from anything that makes them lose face. Resulting in, a bravado, that justifies just about anything. When the Philippines, Japan, or other, complains of the CCP incursions into their waters. They howl with indignation. Any CCP government action against others, seems justifiable. Their fishing fleet, is wiping out the oceans fish. That's ok, as long as "we" get it. Answer to your question, a power, control, crazy government, with a compliant population. That will revolt, if not well fed, and making money. They need to secure, cheap food, and cheap resources. Any successful democracy, like Taiwan, or the USA, is a big threat, to the criminal organization running China. So has to be dealt with, by whatever means possible.

  4. That must have been frustrating. I’m around Chinese people, ( in Vancouver). Even with asking, I’ve never heard a Chinese person. Give thanks, for the allies, (mostly USA), for the defeat of The Japanese.

  22. It’s tragic all the way round. Only the best, can properly fight a war. Leaving the rest, to breed at home. Leaving society, worse off. The “idea” of training, discipline, for all, makes sense. My step dad, was in WW2, from 39 on. We were lucky to get such an upstanding man back. He is on his death bed today. Never talked about the war, no glory he said.

  27. Canada was not only a supply depot. It was also a safe, off site location, for pilot training, and POW camps. A large number of British children, were sent over, for safety. Many did not have a good time, as much needed, farm labour.
