  2. I’m completely with you. It’s about expectations. I grew up in Vancouver, the always stupidly expensive city. Same as my parents, the first decade of marriage, and home ownership, meant. Thrift shop, yard sale appliances furnishings clothing, roommates, an old car, a veggie garden, no restaurants, nothing on credit, but the house. You take turns, going to school. That’s how it always was. We survived an 18% mortgage rate. Surprise, it’ll come again. Unwinding 70 yrs of deficits.
