Time to experiment, thanks!

Someone did a test of stacking pads. Sorry I don’t remember who. They found that the closed cell, on top of the air pad. Was warmer, than the reverse. I like to use the closed cell on the bottom to prevent a puncture. It happened to me on the last night, of an 11 day hike. Very annoying.

Now I'm conflicted. At over 60, pack weight is definitely an issue. But because, the coastal BC mountains, offer very few flat and dry camp spots. I'm really hoping to find a hammock, that won't cramp my legs. Without adding, an extra kilo, or more, vs a tarp and a pad.

Does it work well enough, between the back and a pack? That’s the sweat place.

I will buy anything from Taiwan. But not Klymit. Mine was a waste of money. We did an 11 day hike. As our collective fuel cans ran low. We ended up using my daughter’s jetboil, to conserve fuel. It doesn’t simmer, but it sure is efficient.

I’m not scared of cold cold. South west coast Canada, rain forest. Its wet wet soaking wet.

Do you need cell connection, for it?

There is a weight penalty. But I still bring wool, for the wet warmth. Just in case. Packing for good weather, is easy.

So, Chinese food and clothing? Ouch!

Anyone recommend, other down bags. That can go solo, and double. Well below freezing. Decent price?

I'm interested in ponchos. My daughter and I, just did the west coast trail. On rain days, she wore a poncho. While I had, a frog tog rain jacket, and pack cover. Her and her gear, was steam cooked, while my pack and I, stayed dry. Luckily it wasn't super cold, or lasted more than a full day/night. The heavy fog did tho. Does the WI poncho, breathe?
