  1. There is a weight penalty. But I still bring wool, for the wet warmth. Just in case. Packing for good weather, is easy.

  2. I'm interested in ponchos. My daughter and I, just did the west coast trail. On rain days, she wore a poncho. While I had, a frog tog rain jacket, and pack cover. Her and her gear, was steam cooked, while my pack and I, stayed dry. Luckily it wasn't super cold, or lasted more than a full day/night. The heavy fog did tho. Does the WI poncho, breathe?
