  44. Saint Zabulon and Sosana were the parents of Saint Nino. Saint Zabulon was born in Cappadocia around 280. Saint Zabulon's parents were deeply religious Christians. At that time, many Georgian tribes lived in Cappadocia. According to scholars, Saint Zabulon was from the Georgian tribe. It is believed that the Holy Great Martyr George was the niece of Saint Zabulon. As sources tell us, during the martyrdom of Saint George, “a certain man worthy of the princes, a servant of God by the name of Zebulon” arrived in Rome and began serving in the army of the Roman emperor. He soon made a name for himself as a talented horseman and an incomparable warrior. During the battle with the French, “the Lord gave strength to Zebulon”, captured the king and princes of the French and brought them to the Roman emperor. The emperor sentenced the prisoners to death. Influenced by the Saint Zabulon, the prisoners asked for Christian baptism before their death. Zabulon asked the emperor to fulfill the last wish of the prisoners. The condemneds were buptized by Zebulon. Saint Zabulon asked for mercy for his godchildren, and the emperor granted him the life of his spiritual children. Through the merits of Saint Zabulon, the whole of France of that time shared in the Holy Light of Christ. An unknown Georgian hymnographer of the 9th century, in the eulogy of Saint Nino, writes: “Father of saint Nino Zebulon turned into the Qristianity the French by the sword, and blessed Nino turned the Georgians by the living cross.” Saint Zabulon went to Jerusalem for pray the holy places. There he distributed all his earnings to the poor and began to serve the Patriarch of Jerusalem, Juvenal. The Patriarch gave his sister, Susanna, to the “father and godfather” of the French, “full of piety and wisdom.” Saint Zabulon and Susanna went to Zabulon’s homeland, Cappadocia. Here they had a daughter, Nino, whom they raised with piety and love. When Nino was twelve years old, her parents sold everything and went to Jerusalem. Zabulon received a blessing from Patriarch Juvenal and went to the desert to pray. On December 10 (23), 1996, at the session of the Holy Synod of the Church of Georgia, a decree was adopted: the parents of the enlightener of the Georgian nation, Saint Nino, Zebulon and Sosana, when the faith of the pagans was strong and many were martyred for Christ, were unconcealed confessors of the true God and baptizers of many, and later, having abandoned all their possessions, they entered upon the service of God, Zebulon - in the desert, and Sosana - in the service of the poor. The Holy Synod of the Church of Georgia decrees that the parents of Saint Nino, for their righteous upbringing of the apostles and for their God-fearing monastic life, be included in the company of saints and be called: Zebulon - the venerable saint father Zebulon and Sosana - the venerable saint mother Sosana. Information about Saint Nino's parents has been preserved only by Georgian sources. It is written like this :)
