  1. This is a great evolutionary step for the mankind! For everyone. The film may not get made, but in the future dozens more films get made that are more authentic. What a groundbreaking move. People don't see a bigger picture, Maybe a loss for now, but a win in the long run, Brave. It's like most female characters in films were played by men and women had no roles, that’s how it is like for trans actors now..What is happening is no different from old China when women were banned from acting and they were played only by men. Times are changing, and some voices need to be heard and listened to. because they're part of this world and society they're co-creating. Once it's free from identity politics and prejudice to hire trans people to play cis characters, I'm sure there won't be any problem with cis ppl hired for trans roles. Identity politics have been constantly used against minorities, and it is this same weapon minorities use back against them, and then people wondering, whining and fighting against this like little SJW children when they started it themselves, all in the name of hypocrisy. it is also increasingly looking dishonest, inauthentic and embarrassing to public to play a race or a gender you are not yourself in times when plenty of these people are not given equal opportunity, and one can understand how ashamed people involved in this project would probably feel if they went on with it. The world is now ready to see these stories told by the people who it touches the most. I prefer authenticity over obvious pretending in acting, most people do, Isn't that what movies or any art strives for, more and more authentic touch and impact, that's why we have 3d films, more realism and real experience, acting comes from playing within a story with given dialogue, merely trying to be convincing. People do not care about actors being someone else, people generally care for a convincing experience, more and more convincing as we go on in art. Obviously someone who has had an experience in war would be even more ideal to play in a war film, or someone who is Asian to play Asian, and on and on. There's always going to be acting for some kind of dramatized story, but the gap between fiction and reality is attempted to be as narrow as possible. In the past people didn't have the options we have nowadays, it was not as easy to get as diverse bunch of actors appropriate for the role as it is possible these days. It's a great evolutionary step for acting industry and culture in general. Actors more convincing for certain roles will be sought for the sake of more authenticity and popularity will be earned by great product itself, not star power, but talent, everyone started somewhere that just became famous without being famous before. Time to start taking risks. There's many actors and actresses not given a chance because of what culture dictates and buys, it's not about talent, but money, once culture changes seeking authenticity these artists are given more chances, because market/culture changes. That's what it's about! Many disabled, gay or Lesbian actors and actresses have no problem to be auditioned for dozens of projects, but trans people don't, no matter how much more talented they are, the reason why someone like Scarlett was even considered for the role is nothing but politics, the viewpoint formulated by culture (that's mind controlling perception of superficial beauty among other things), this decision was all about changing that self hypnotized viewpoint, and give more opportunities to trans individuals who have the same merit and talent, but simply not being sought out for the same kind of opportunities. The reason itself someone like Scarlett is bankable is influenced by this. Most people are asleep under the deep cultural programming, but some are awakening. This is much deeper for most people to grasp how the collective consciousness is built and expanded.
