HK and Mainland don't love each other, they love their ancestors more. You can not take back a child you didn't raise, they had a different father since they were born, now the father is gone and their original father wants them back, someone they never knew before. This is an example of how much love for those parents that really took care of us matters the most than people who neglected us, how spirit matters more than blood. HKers love Chinese culture, but not their father who ignored them and doesn't love them. Love means to allow them be who they are as adults now, you can't steal their heart anymore, it's too late.
Some people need to understand that by dividing we gain the strength of unity, Hong Kong would not be as powerful with mainland China if Hong Kongers are two much in conflict with way of life of the mainland China, Chinese people themselves is not a homogenous society, every single one of us is different, China would far more benefit and serve its own people if it was divided into several independent states or communities that better do justice to the demands of those people. That's the power of diversity of people, their hearts and beliefs.
