@rupertsmith5815 They have almost nothing to lose and everything to gain if they puppet Ukraine no worry of NATO getting a foothold in the country with the nation puppeted the eu nations can pretend all is well and continue getting energy from the Russians if they dont and instead try to build up a military to defend it self the result will fracture the EU further as some states cannot and will not engage in military expenditures The EU would most definitely collapse with more of mamma merkel's babies

@rupertsmith5815 Its going to be shockingly easy for russia to take whatever it wants from the Ukraine and on the point of resistance of the conquered people ... its russia we are talking about not the petheitc nations of the west resistance will either be crushed or the non russians will just be deported from the newly conquered lands the russians want to keep putin has a massively high approval rating and the russian people see their nation as being dragged into war by the west to back down would be much more of a detriment to Putin and Russia than to actually go ahead with the war You just pointed out several ongoing crises that the EU is struggling with and somehow act as if millions more incompatible migrants will not hases the collapse of the EU

@Nox_Eternis I expect the Russians to open the conflict with an amphibious assault as russia has started moving its amphibious landing ships from the baltic to the black sea currently they are in the Atlantic Once Kiev is surrounded it will be forced to capitulate the capitulation will be along the lines of breaking the Ukraine into smaller chunks with high autonomy still under the central government in name and the puppet in Kiev will be one of Russia's choosing Actually Russia needs the buffer space between nato and their heartland an they dont have enough natural barriers so space is what they need Right now The US has a weak leader extremely demoralised military a increasingly fractured populous and the EU is as toothless as ever so it is in Russia's interests to take Ukraine now before Sleepy Joe kicks the bucket or an election happens and the US has a competent leader again
