  1. Here we go again... You seem to condense a compounding issue that many "European" fire brigades tend to face that go undocumented, and that is a lack of available equipment at one time for a response. Relying on 3x as many trucks to one call compared to just ONE American fire engine doing double duty as EMS. Also, your average fire engine is around 35 feet... <5 feet (shorter) of your avg. intercity bus [40 feet], so the issue isn't size, but rather, maneuverability. I can attest that if those same fire trucks had a turn-radius capable of 150° they could be 70 feet long [like a bendy bus] and still make those turn at ½ speed with ease. That IS on the manufacturers for not using rack-pinion steering.
