  1. That's probably the most heartbreaking thing about dementia and probably the leading cause of it in the first place. Traumatic events that get bottled up and not accepted as "it happened, time to move on" ends up clouding a person's mind for the remainder of my life. My grandmother & grandfather went through that where they're just stuck in either 1930s Disenfranchisement of Negros and/or Post- WWII for blacks

  2. I think many of us live in a fictional reality nowadays where someone can be a "hero" until put into that same situation then are wondering "where is my hero?" It's the lack of acknowledgement; as you said, Germans themselves were treading a thin line between life or death for even criticizing the food supply of Nazi Germany.
