  2. You have a combination of grid cities and colonial cities here in America. According to how urban sprawl takes place, the suburbs reach out so far that it's almost no longer feasible to send public transit to those areas to begin with. As you construct public transit further away from the center of origin, the more suburbanites migrate away (for personal reasons)... almost becoming a separate city. Example: Baltimore - Columbia or DC - Silver Spring
