These individuals need to accept that these shutdowns are EXTREMELY necessary for MBTA to catch-up with infrastructure. Every day of every week is a "crucial" time for ridership but at some point the necessary inspections have to be done. If not then you may end up with nothing to call a relatively "decent" service so, suck it up & deal with it!

Problem is MBTA has new trains but they're breaking every month. They need new leadership and management
4
Too many... about one incident per week
4
Bro, this isn't gonna be an overnight process. The idea was to "fix" issues not turn the service into "Euro Transport" If Boston is gonna catch up with the times regarding their infrastructure, this is a 20-year mass overhaul. The entire network needs all the funding possible
4
FTA & NTSB needs to do a thorough investigation in the management of MBTA. This agency has been plague with issues for what seems to be every week to one major incident per month.

This comment here is the truth. Luckily the new Green Line cars are by CAF but Orange & Red Line trains are in for years of issues with no good way for MBTA of opting out of the contract with CRRC. Damn shame too. The T just needs to clean house entirely
3
You could abolish but what are you gonna replace it with?... Try fixing the damn 'The T' even if you if you need to shutdown the subway for a month to a year
3
Welcome to society. You think it's bad, Bostonians? Try Baltimore. As many homicides as there are days on a calendar. Only bright side (not much) is that it's targeted drug dealers more often than innocent. It's a cultural issue folks. 🤷🏾♂️

MBTA has an issue every damn week it seems. Whomever is in charge of operations or just general management, needs to be cited for investigation by the NTSB
2
This trainset was built by Hawker-Siddely around the 1970s and only until the past 5 years they bought new trains for Orange Line, problem is... the new trains "supposedly" on-duty are plague with issues by the Chinese-based manufacturer: CRRC Best way to describe this entire situation, MBTA is in for a mess
2
Uh, no you don't. Those trains would probably derailed over the Mystic River as opposed to catching fire
2
MBTA needs a review from the NTSB and FTA. The entire management is a joke and needs to be removed. Orange Line commuters... the "NEW" trains are no good either
2
Granted, it happened because of the shoe; located adjacent to the wheel bogeys, probably received an over-surge of current which sparked the fire. The trainset is 40+ years old so that contributed
2
Yeah, I wouldn't trust that lady to make rational decisions if my life depended on it
2
I guess if a bridge collapse in your rural town "I have NO idea why people wish to live in barren country-sides"

Massachusetts is a?...

MBTA just need to shutdown the subway system for a month. You have all of August before school opens up to do some thorough inspections
1
@dnwitte Yup, the new ones are just as bad or even worse. CRRC (Chinese-based) manufacturer with jo prior experience building HRT cars here in the US... Tells you a lot about the decision making at MBTA HQ

Didn't it happen in Pittsburgh earlier this year? 🤔
1
@ninyaninjabrifsanovichthes45 Called those Chinese sh*tboxes lemons is an insult. CRRC quality is plagued with issues
1
@felixthecat2786 Can't fix the T if no one in power is taking responsibility.
