Unless we get a new "wealth equalizer" ie massive economic depression or a world war, capitalism will, as always seek to trample rights, destroy societal cohesiveness and detriment the environment. It's the nature of the system. But yes. 2020 is not even close to be a bad year compared to the last 150 years of history. Late stage capitalism is too powerful a force to be remedied by reforms. It is either complete collapse or a revolution - likely both, that will mitigate the damaging effects of global capitalism.

M Novalic Thanks for your enlightening input. Im not arguing for or against anything. Merely stating facts with regards to wealth inequality. However, you'll find that the most "socialist" countries ie Scandinavia, Netherlands also have the highest overall happiness, equality, security and trust among its citizens. Every single time a society has become grossly unequal, it has blown up in the faces of the rulers: France 1784, Russia 1917, Germany and China in 1930's. Iran 1979. Russia again in 1989. Increasing economic inequality (not poverty alone) is the surest predictor of civil upheaval outside war and natural calamities. Oh, and your comment honestly made no fucking sense. Put some effort into it next time, like a big boy. Cheers.

M Novalic Well that was an easy thing to blurt out, I guess. Never mind that the "welfare" state model is implemented in every single "rich" country. Even in the US, although a smaller extent. Now let's take an example from US history: Growth, equality, purchase parity and average wages were all at their height in the 1950-60's. An unrivalled economic growth for a country until that time. Oh and with high capital gains, progressive and corporate taxation. The numbers are all there. Unregulated capitalism is harmful to communities, countries and our ecology, as corporate goals never align with financial, social and ecological responsibilities. It has nothing to do with communism or other ideologies. It's plainly what works best for the citizens in modern systems. So you see, it's more complicated than "commies". And yet very simple if you look at what serves ordinary people best. Not politicians. Not billionaire donors. Not corporate interests. You and me.

@calysagora3615 Yeah. Wall Street, Big Oil, Tech and Pharma are just poor little merchants downtrodden by the big bad government. Give me a fucking break. I can't have an honest discussion with someone who is either willfully misinformative or titanically ignorant about how the world works around them.
