  2. The West has always treated Turkey arrogantly as a second rate power with regards to both the EU and NATO. (Dangling EU membership. Siding with Greece in border disputes. The Coup in Turkey. Kurdish groups. Etc etc) Whilst I'm no fan of Erdogan, I can fully understand why Turkey would want to fully extract their pound of flesh for allowing Sweden into NATO. And make no mistake: Turkey as a NATO member is strategically vastly more important than a "win more" situation in the Baltic with Swedish membership.
