  1. Strategic autonomy can only be secured if you have safe and local access/production of all resources necessary, including energy, arms, metals and electronics. As of right now, that's a very long way from being an achievable goal.

  2. That's because Macron believes it will bring France to the forefront of European foreign policy, essentially becoming the "leader of Europe" in state affairs. The Germans sure as hell won't be advocating any military solutions to a problem any time soon...
