  2. Spot on. We could have safeguards by law, but the problem is that capitalism always caters to the lowest (cheapest, most exploitative) denominator. The stakeholders are not interested in stability and security unless it directly and immediately affects their bottom line. Unless there's united public uprising globally against the ills of unregulated capitalism, it will do as it always has and simply undercut and absorb the adversary. That includes the ruling class.

  3.  @TR4R  That's a very common story, unfortunately. We as consumers also bear a part of the blame as we've very quickly become comfortable with imported goods instead of making our own, even if it costs 5 or 10% more to make. It's also about being independent and keeping jobs domestically. But that's not the neoliberal agenda. Can't smuggle your funds to tax havens if every country has strict regulations on banking and finance, can we?
