We've created a society based on empty consumption, BS jobs and artificially inflated competition in working hours. None of it is essential or even a positive. People don't want to have kids for moral reasons (as we saw in the old Eastern Bloc), for economic reasons and for ecological reasons. Every single one fo these reasons are valid and far more important to address than just telling people to have more kids "because its good for the economy"...

Considering that about 1/3 of all jobs (so-called BS jobs) would never be missed if they disappeared tomorrow, and many service jobs will and/or can be automated, having smaller generations will be indeed a long-term boon, instead of having large generations of youth trained to be unemployed and on government support. We just need to cross the hurdle of baby-boomers dying out. And it'll be a good thing as their generation is responsible for ecological disaster and generational theft promoting greed for their own benefit. Fuck that generation because they fucked the rest of us.

@augustodelerme7233 Not Malthusian, no. But asking the average population to "work harder" despite record wealth and record inequal distribution of said wealth is reprehensible. Secondly, expecting infinite economic growth in all aspects of society on a planet with finite resources... Well, that's just idiotic and ultimately ruinous. Greed for the sake of greed is not a viable basis for a society, I would argue. Maybe, just maybe, we can plant a few trees that will provide shade for our grandchildren, instead of chopping it all down to continually fuel the fires of avarice?

@Nyet-Zdyes Here's the counterargument: Children are expensive and time-consuming (I know, because Im a parent myself) If you're only looking out for yourself, which is encouraged by the neo-liberals, you'd be far better off with working a bit more, investing in your career and simply buying all the help you'll need in your old age. All things being equal, you'd be far better off than a family where the children are working, supporting their own household with kids and expected to be able to take care of their ageing parents... If you don't provide people a proper incentive and in our society even somewhat punish them for having children in terms of career, wealth, benefits etc I'd fully and utterly understand why people would say "fuck y'all, I'm not giving an ounce more" when there is more than enough wealth and resources to accommodate the needs of every person in the developed countries. Children, schools, healthcare, general education: All these things are investments in society, not purely expenses.
