  1. +Jocko Adams It's a matter of opinion, I guess. And I respect that. (And nothing is free, I agree; Ed.) But there's a reason why the US spends almost double on GDP (in %) than any single payer system. Is the US health system better? Yes, If you're wealthy. But if you belong to the lower 75% percentile in income (90% of the population), the single payer system is cheaper, covers everyone and works arguably better. Now take these factors into account: Good public transportation and decent infrastructure. Paid maternity and paternity leave. 6-8 weeks of paid vacation. Free College/University. Expanded social security. Do the numbers. It's a bargain if you can get all that and pay 45% instead of 35% taxes. The fact that there are nowhere (with comparable GDP) where a quarter of kids live below the poverty rate should tell you something. Cheers
