  1. Yes and No. Direct hate speech IS illegal in many countries. And yes, it's a slippery slope... But it's been this way for what? 30 years? 10 years ago Apple tried to censor "adult" content ie. specific articles from magazines no matter the context. That's when I punched out of the Apple machine... As long as there is money involved, you'd be hard pressed to call it "a soapbox in a square". A private company is free to do what it wants pertaining to their rules of content. Nobody is preventing Alex Jones from having a his own TV company, radio or website. All these companies are glorified billboards and we're the product. The counterargument would be to impose a sanctioned breakup of monopolies - Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, Google, Apple, Amazon and probably Netflix. It would be bad for business as the Chinese and Russians would never do the same. I don't like that either if it comes to breaking up News Services that are popular and happen to be in opposition to a government. Ultimately, free speech and democracy doesn't work without informed and educated citizens. Pick your poison...
