  1. It's quite possible. Let's hope that they maintain the EUs liberal democratic values instead of the current path frightening towards autocracy. Ironic, considering how these countries suffered under the oppressive Russian yoke.

  2. It isn't hypocrisy. Germany did it to themselves. The communist bloc were forced under Soviet servitude yo adopt their policies. If thwy hated their autocratic overlords so much, why are they then seeking to emulate them with regards to individual liberties? Time will tell. I hope I'm wrong, but I dont think I will be.
