5% minimum to enter parliament is a very high threshold. It's undemocratic as smaller parties will have a very hard time to be represented.

Austerity on public finances and tax breaks predominantly benefitting the upper brackets of earners is how you finish off an already ailing economy. There is not a single example in history that this has ever worked. It'll trickle down, yes, but it'll mostly be turds on the heads of the poorest 25%...

@baronbrummbar8691 Yeah, maybe that was my mistake. I'm Danish as well. The lower bar should be dictated by the number of mandates required to enter parliament. It would make sense that it's more difficult for that in Germany as you have 85-90 million people and your parliament probably isn't X 15-20 the amount of people we have in our parliament. No worries. It's still far, far better than the Brits and their FPtP system which is decidedly unrepresentative of the actual popular vote. Take care of your free speech and right to protest and it'll take care of you!

AfD is like every other reactionary opposition party. As soon as they assume responsibility, they'll crumble. Because they have nothing to offer people beyond catchy one-liners and bigotry.
