  1. The economy isn't "DOOMED"... It's the simple fact that circumstances and technologies always have impacted economies and it has adjusted accordingly. We're in a phase where there should have been an "equalizer" ie world war, pandemic or global financial crisis, but instead we've seen increased inequality during crises in this millennium. Lastly, I'd call you an abject moron if you assume the same level of continuous economic growth ad infinitum on a planet with finite resources.

  2.  @themore-you-know  That's on the "market" itself. And why strong unions are a good thing. Important jobs that aren't compensated properly will simply cease to have the needed number of applicants. I view demographic tendencies differently: it's a good thing that less people are born because many of them would have become obsolete with automation of many low skill labour jobs. And the next group to get hit will probably be in logistics and transportation (trains, trucks, buses, taxis etc.) when AIs are implemented. What we are lacking however, is making important jobs such as yours (and nurses, teachers, care homes etc) that can't be automated a priority so that people apply for them now, not when there's a critical shortage.
