  1. Are you sure they hoped for a "Iraq 2003" style campaign? Sure, the US won the war. But the peace cost thousands of American lives, hundreds of thousands of civilian deaths and trillions in treasure. And no one in their right mind would call Iraq a succes 20 years later. Ukraine has almost double the population and size and vastly more resources, overt or covert, to aid them. It was an unwinnable scenario to begin with.

  2. I was one of those people. I didn't believe that they had the force to push through and that the exercises was a political ploy. In my mind: If Putin actually wanted to subjugate Ukraine, why did he give them 8 years since 2014 to train and re-arm their forces? It just didn't add up at the time...
