  1. The goal of the offensive was never going to be anything but towards Mariupol and/or Melitupol (after the flooding) and severing Crimea from the rest of the territories. The Russians knew this and they knew what type of equipment and manpower Ukraine could employ (through intelligence, leaks and PR media). The Russians prepared accordingly and without effective air support and outnumbered in artillery support, the Ukrainian forces never had a fair chance to succeed. Just my 2 cents.

  2.  @a5cent  I agree completely with everything you've said. We've been half-assing it against the same country that took out Rev. France and Germany solely based on their ability to take a punch and continue fighting. The US have however been extremely hesitant to donate any actual active, maintained material to Ukraine for fear of having to need them later. The same goes for Germany and many of the larger countries. The war was over before it even began imho
