Knowing many journalists, they were lazy and didn't bother to do their due diligence before publishing. Don't expect a correction, because apparently admitting a mistake and correcting it is not seen as good journalism any longer...

Europe needs to extricate ourselves from US affairs. Since article 5 was invoked by the US in 2001, in has been nothing but lost lives, treasure and esteem across the globe. And we cannot rely on the US when they elect a madman every 4 years, and the other guy is gaslighting us during a genocide.

Of course Ukrainian spending wouldn't be part of the statistic. They're in an active conflict and have themselves received large amounts of money and material these last few years. It would skew the spending profile of "the rest of Europe" compared to Russia.
