This is political grand standing at its worst. The money spent should instead be invested into green energy and R&D as climate change is a much greater national security threat than an impoverished, depleted Russia that can't fight a single nation, let alone NATO. Not accounting for PPP, current NATO budget is almost x20 that of Russia.

In what world would Russia be a threat against Poland, let alone NATO? Unless they're thinking of going solo, of course. In that case, their leadership would need a mental examination....

@niweshlekhak9646 Sure, because labor, materials, assembly and maintenance is free, right? The military budget is an estimation, sure, but how much of it in Russia do you think actually goes to the military?

@God__Emperor_ If you have nothing substantive to add, you should really just remain silent.

@chadbrad8100 There is already a deterrent: Having 20x the budget, not even accounting for Russian mismanagement and corruption. By overwhelming the Russian military even more, you're basically making a case for Russia to employ nuclear weapons as that's their only way to a potential military victory...

@ronblack7870 Why is it that you scare mongering about a possible Russian attack is somehow more legitimate than the certainty of drastic climate change that will result in conflicts, untold refugees and global economic crises? Do you honestly believe that Russia is capable of starting any more wars against countries that are large, armed and prepared? We're wasting our resources and money on propping up American Corporations instead of investing in our future. You know how you truly fuck Putin's regime? You make gas and oil obsolete.

Does Poland have the necessary capabilities of required air defence and air support, let alone the staggering cost of the munitions required even for peacetime training to make this a feasible investment?
