  1. That's not "Shock and awe" doctrine. Both wars in Iraq, The US gave ample time to Iraqi forces to entrench and defend their positions. Shock and awe doctrine instead of "blitzkrieg" emphasizes immense logistical preparation and planning before initiating an overwhelming air campaign followed by a coordinated assault targeting CnC, communications and infrastructure along with usual defensive military targets. The air campaign is key and requires immense superiority or outright supremacy in the skies.
