  1. You're not wrong in that sense. Russia tried to grow closer to the West in the 90s and early 00s, even on joining NATO but we're rebuffed by the US. It's on record. The prevailing theory is that American companies were far more interested in exploiting russian resources though a corrupt system than establishing a democratic partner for peace in Europe. NATO has no purpose without a "scary" Russia. No weapons sales, no US dictates, no US geopolitical strategy without it. Add to that the 2008 memo from the US that Georgia and Ukraine would join despite the security guarantees provided by Bush sr. to Russia, the suspected US involvement in fomenting the 2014 Maidan "coup" including hundreds of Russians killed in Odessa and I believe it's fair to not paint Russia as the sole aggressor, but actually more as a desperate defensive move against US hegemony. Either way, I understand why Russia does what they do, although I would never, ever be on the side of Putin or condone their actions. But make no mistake: The US and especially Zelensky are not the angels they're making themselves out to be.

  2. As always, The US has no end game or grand strategic plan. It's always "to show strength" which in the end only emphasises the weaknesses.

  4. Under Trump the violations, foreign and domestic, would be so egregious that it will force a reaction. And that's a good thing. Biden is the "usual" evil status quo, Trump is the abhorrent evil that even the hypocrites wouldn't be able to deny.
