The bit with News from Germany interrupted by a Rudi alert, is very meta satire. It pretty much sums up why most Americans have no sense of what's going on in the rest of the world. It goes something like this: "Military Coup in Myanmar..." BREAKING "Kim Kardashian tweeted something that was shared." Yeah, let's spend 10 minutes on that instead

@lstapes7 Of course you knew. That's the whole point of the bit. My comment pertains to how meta it is to the viewer, as we're exposed to the conscientious selection of news stories that entertain, instead of inform and ,importantly, help voters make the right decisions. You're a democracy battling for your soul and what do you get? News about Nicki Minaj tweeting about swollen testicles for a week. What has-beens like PillowGuy, Rudi and Trump said this week? It's poor news and/or lazy satire. A person only has so much bandwidth to consume information. This is not to criticise the late night shows. Afaik they're doing a better job at informing than any American TV news outlet I can think of. I may be rude, sure. I'll gladly admit to that. But I prefer rude, factual and honest than a polite veneer of hypocrisy, which unfortunately permeates American media and politics. Especially since the factual and honest part doesn't seem to go through as much as it did once. Where I'm from is not perfect either. But I'm saddened to see that we're learning and imitating your style more and more, because it's evident that it's a great businees model. It's the new opium for the masses
