Great talk. I especially loved the part about it being "Iconic, not important". Many such battles as Thermopylae, Agincourt etc. are emphasized and exaggerated for different reasons, but certainly not because of their military or political significance.

@fredjohnson9833 That's not even my problem with it. If someone based their historic knowledge on "300" or the exact wording of Herodotus, then that's on them.

@fredjohnson9833 That's screwed up. I mean we had "classics" as a subject in high school (in Denmark) and our teacher made a big deal about interpreting Herodotus and his inherent bias. Huh, maybe I just had a great teacher...

@James-sk4db It's not a bad point per se, but direcly ascribing the chain of events to Agincourt is a bit heavy-handed. It's a butterfly effect rationale which can never be proven or disproven. I might make the assertion that the battle of the Teutoburg forest was important because it lead to the rise of the Third Reich and chained seemingly related events over 2000 years in Germany. I could never prove it, though...
