  2. As an outsider, to me it seems that the class system is so entrenched that even working class people have convinced themselves it's for their benefit. Rule Brittania and all that jazz. It's not unlike the abject poverty of Americans who oppose taxes and social reform just in case they happen to become wealthy one day. They've merely switched out class for race and ideology as a means of self-identification.
