@augustus8913 As you probably know, the quote was from during the Eastern Roman Empire. Hence "Constantinople", named for Constantine and not "Byzantion". The Greeks in that age saw themselves as the continuation of Rome. They were romanized and christianized. Although Greek was the language of the empire, and Greek culture had a strong influence on Rome, absolutely no Greek didn't see themselves as Romans first and foremost, during that period. But God bless you for joining in, whilst barely understanding the subject at hand.
