Describe Georgia in one word: Lee: Sultry Grant: Treacherous Sherman: Flammable
183
Well... WW I and II spelled the doom for French and British empires. 20 years after that, Germany, Japan and Italy were doing pretty good compared to the limeys and the frogs

"Here comes the sun" suddenly had quite an ominous meaning to it, after Hiroshima & Nagasaki.

Ukraine is ineligible for NATO membership as long as it has outstanding border disputes as that is one of the criteria for joining. So realistically, unless Ukraine succeeds completely in their goals in the war, they won't be able to join in the foreseeable future. Saying anything else would be wrong, if not outright misinformation.

Why ironic? Surely you mean apt or proper?

The British broke their word to the Arabs that helped defeat the Ottomans and instead opted to "divide and conquer" the Middle East and grant the Zionist Movement a colonial charter with the Balfour Declaration. Land that was never theirs was granted to a people that never had an attachment to it, except for ancient history. The later UN vote didn't represent the majority of the world's population or nations. A century later and the British, French, and now Germans and US, have allowed their moral and legal principles to be utterly corrupted in defense of a nation that had no legitimacy to begin with, and have never been held accountable for their actions. That legitimacy might very well have been earned over time, but instead we see increasingly supremacist views and support for atrocities among Israelis. We can solve the issues today diplomatically or wait for the inevitable reckoning that Israels legacy of theft, murder and racism will result in. Either way, Israel today does not deserve anything but condemnation and revulsion from any moral person.

@HarrDarr Every heard of the "German Miracle"? The greatest period of sustained economic growth and increase in living standards in European History? Now compare that to the utter destruction that Germany suffered and how well they bounced back. All in all, Germany was doing "pretty well" 20 years after the war.
5
In the grand scheme of things, these were only minor war crimes committed by the US. Just ask the Native Americans - the ones that are left... Oh yes, also Germany? Japan? Vietnam? Iraq? Afghanistan? And of course funding and supporting the crimes in the Middle East as we speak. Can't spell "United States of America" without atrocities

"Am I a joke to you"? No. The meme stopped being funny 3 years ago.

Poland. The battered housewife of Europe. And now that she's about to get her groove back, it turns out she's kind of a bully herself.
3
An insignificant battle only surpassed in its unimportance by its fame. Also: The democracy had slaves and less rights for women than the Persians
3
Israel, the UK and the US always on the right side of history when it comes to support racist colonial supremacy.
3
The most impressive thing about this video is your ability to pronounce Polish names without suffering a contusion to your tongue.
3
They are known as the GOP today. That's what happened. Poor Lincoln.

Rising star, a leutenant general... Wait, what?

"Jewish minorities" isn't an ethnic group. It's a religious-cultural group. Certainly not a nationality as you try to depict here with regards to Romania. They were Romanian Jews, Bulgarian Jews and Hungarian Jews.
2
"For freedom"? Yup. Said like a true slaveholder.
2
North Atlantic Trade Organization. Really?
2
@nadiaw74 Exactly. Even the case for war against the Vietnamese was BS...
2
EEE-raq. Not "EYE"-raq. That in it itself is perhaps symbolic of why the US & co failed so miserably to understand the situation, groups and psyche of the country.
2
The Germans astonished and terrified the world. The Italians astonished and terrified the Germans.
2
Sadly, not if you ask Modi and his Hindu supremacist supporters...
2
And just as today, it was the murder of indigenous peoples by supremacist settler colonists, their acts of horror getting diplomatic and economic cover by the UK and the US. But at least they've forwarded some strong words to them, right?
2
The Italian military has kinda been on hiatus since the fall of the Western Roman Empire
2
Crete, Normandy and Arnhem. Paratroopers have had their fair share of failed operations.
2
Modern history that you actually really like? What does that even mean?
2
So happy that all the war criminals that started this war got what they deserv....Wait a minute!
2
Many things can be said about Mao, but the most important is that he rarely made good decisions...

@darthnihilus6239 Absolutely wrong. Slaves were an essential part of classical Greek cities and allowed for the gentry to practice skills such as warfare, oratory, drama and philosophy. Look it up, instead of trying to whitewash the darker parts of the classical age.
1
This is very good. The level of info, narration and animations. Superb.
1
But the damage and death toll of the war was no more than a single or two battles at the same time in India or Europe.
1
No comment on the Tonkin Bay incident? How the hell is that not relevant to the Vietnamese viewpoint?
1
Dude your maps are all way off...

Epi ME TH eus. Maybe pronounce the name of a contributor next time? ;)

If you're comparing a liberal democracy based in human rights and liberty with some of the worst modern regime's, you've already lost the argument. The millions of children killed by American wars the last century were absolutely innocent of the crimes their fathers committed. And if we're talking the Middle East today, the greatest killings have been done by Israel and Saudi the last decades. Both allies of the US. You have absolutely no moral leg to stand on. And you should be enraged and horrified by that fact instead of trying to justify absolute horror.
1
That's kinda exactly my point. In the grand scheme of things Sherman did very little. Even in the grand scheme of US atrocities, Sherman did very little. Yet you hear the very same people that condoned the Iraq war and support for Israel whine about Sherman's march through Georgia. Also, the Germans killed 12 million in their camps of which 6 million were Jews. The Japanese killed 13 million Chinese civilians. Japan never apologized, paid reparations or acknowledge in their history in schools that this ever happened.
1
You are absolutely wrong. Germany's worst defeat was the 1986 world cup* finals 2-3 against Argentina. Even old Nazis in Argentina were all like "Zhat was fickt up". * unlike the "world series" actually with participation from nations around the world.

Pretty sure Griffin is the secret lovechild of Daniell Radcliffe (Harry Potter) and Elijah Wood (Frodo)
1
Your head to body to hand ratio is very weird. Its like watching Frodo, but with an elven body and dwarven hands
1
@thecommentaryking Very true. The Italians in ww2 primarily suffered from poor leadership. Still funny, though.
1
Is it controversial? It was a war between a people and a military. The US never had a chance of "victory". Iraq and Afghanistan are different, but comparable in terms of resistance and the US modus operandi of winning a war but still losing the peace.
1
3000 Hussars ... and 15.000 "other" cavalry... That's the same bullshit as the "300". Not mentioning that 7000 "others" did the same.
1
Arguably, Sickles' leg was the least tragic of all losses. Soldiers lost their lives, and even the ones that "only" lost a leg would be far worse off than Sickles was...
1
Every general: Well I didn't say the war ended this Christmas...

History in the making. Hopefully it'll be kind to us and our actions.
1
Great video. Although you should mention that the British commander was convinced that the invasion would be amphibious, and that they didn't make any preparations whatsoever for an aerial drop.
1
Oil + Nazis. You're welcome

* Cairo didn't exist "since the romans"

Yes, interesting. I'd stay away from the comment section, though.
