  1. It's honestly a good idea. If people are drafted into service, perhaps the US will be less inclined to beat the drums of war when their own kids are paying the cost of war, not just the kids of poor people and immigrants. Very few people do indeed join the armed forces out of a sense of duty. Most do it because of economic/educational perks or because they have very few choices. And yes, the hypocrisy of Trump himself is not lost on me. Doesn't make it a bad idea.
